New London, Group New Haven,Group Rockaway and finally retired in 1978
from District Office (sar). Did 16 years as Code Enforcement officer in
North Miami Beach, FL and am now selling Real Estate. Just can't seem to
quit. This really brings back memories. And, of course, EVERYBODY knows
Pappy Meadows, the only submarine sailor on Rockaway. |

became an officer, served as CO of 5 Reserve Units in MA, RI & CT,
spent 2 years at Atlantic Area on Governors Island, and one year with FEMA
in Hartford, CT. Retired from the reserves in 1997 with more than 30 years
service at Rank of CDR. |

Great ship. had a lot of great times in New Foundland,
Barbados, Trinidad, and Puerto Rico. Got busted because we ran over a bouy while I was on Bridge Lookout. Got busted again for assulting Ensign Markeepoo Ships. Retired in August of 2000 after 30 years as a BMC. |

I am a Plank Owner on the USS Rockaway AVP 29. I have a real soft spot in my heart for this Ship. It was my first one. Anyone who ever served on this Ship is family, as far as I'm concerned! Hope to see you in Orlando next year. It won't be difficult for me since I live 225 miles away! |

She was a fantastically beautiful ship. It was blue and
had a white star on the bow. We were at pier 92 and docked behind the
California. We loaded ammo for 5 days solid before leaving Seattle. It was
literally a floating ammunition dump! That was the reason I left it in mid
43. |
