Any comments or messages?	Assigned to Rockaway straight out of Boot Camp as SA. On Deck Force under BM1 Kipkowski. CAPT Hagen was CO. Worked as Jack of the Dust then transferred into Sickbay as Corpsman Striker under HMC Michaels. Enjoyed one stormy Delta Ocean Station, then we were Oceanographic duty in the So. Atlantic, and Carribbean. Great liberties. Then we did Refresher Training in Gitmo, then Damage Control School in Phil. Naval Base. Was transferred off ship while she made a Cadet Cruise to the Great Lakes. In Jan 67 I was transferred to Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes. After transferred to CG Academy Hospital for Internship, then transferred to CG Base Seattle. After 6 mos, did a mutual transfer onto CGC Northwind for balance of my enlistment. Really enjoyed sea-duty !!!

Any comments or messages?	I was on the Rockaway in 1950 when we lost Captain Hinnant and remember seeing his daughter when she visited the Rockaway before we went out on that weather patrol. I would like to tell her that her father had to go over the fantail to free up the screws because of the storm coming up. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. I was transferred to the CGC Gentian in 1952, then returned to the Rockaway in 1953 to 1955. I made the 1954 Cadet Cruise and was aboard when Hurricane Diane forced us to abandon the British Freighter Wychwood. I had 6 years in the regulars and 10 years in the reserves. I now make "Jesus Knot Boards" with the skills I learned in the Coast Guard. So far I have made over 1,151 boards and over 100 hang in 33 Foreign Countries. You can see one on my web site (below). I would also like to make a few Rockaway Boards for my old shipmates. I hope you'll get back to me.
